In mid-August, Sunnybank Hills will be the welcome recipient of a new restaurant and bar – one that looks to add an upscale option outside of the inner suburbs. JuJu Bar & Dining will convert what was previously home to Haoke Seafood Chinese Restaurant into a venue boasting a 70-seat dining area and 25-seat bar and lounge space. Design studio pdmg and ENP Fitouts are collaborating on the venue’s aesthetic, and external and internal refurbishment, honing in on a minimal and simplistic material palette featuring raw concrete, and oak and walnut tones. Head chef Andrew Birse will oversee the restaurant’s culinary operations, bringing to bear skills he’s honed as head chef of The Long Apron in Montville, as well as stints working with Alanna Sapwell at ARC Dining and as sous chef at e’cco Bistro.
